Blood & Guts, Monsters & Princesses, Victories

BLOOD

Josh lost his first tooth yesterday. It's not his first baby tooth to come out, but it was the first one that came out the way it was supposed to instead of being ripped out at the dentist office (as described here). I didn't even know it was loose until yesterday morning. He asked me to pull it out, but I didn't think it was loose enough and told him it would probably be a few days before it was ready. Last night I sent him off to bed and within 10 minutes we heard him screaming his head off. We ran into his room to find him with blood running down his chin, jumping up and down on the bed like a banshee, and his tooth held up high in his fist. He had ripped it out himself and he was pretty excited! He is now looking forward to spending his tooth fairy loot on a water gun.

GUTS

Seth had been looking forward to this moment for years! This was the day that he earned his Webelos badge in Cub Scouts. But who cares about the badge?! This was the day Seth got to eat, as quickly as humanly possible, bobcat guts (licorce) and bear droppings (peanut butter cups), washing it all down with wolf blood (grape juice). I think the event lived up to all Seth's expectations! Congratulations Seth!

MONSTERS

This is Anna's first attempt at make up. She might need a little more practice. Washable markers my ear!

PRINCESSES

Anna is obsessed with princesses. For Christmas she received several Disney princess costumes and they have been HUGE hit. She loves them and wears them everywhere. She also loves dancing. But she won't just dance by herself, she makes me dance with her, and she is very particular about how it should be done. She holds her dress out with her right hand. She then tells her partner (that would be me) to put their hand RIGHT HERE (she points to her waist) and hold her left hand with their hand. Then she insists that we sing princess songs like "Once Upon a Dream" or "Someday My Prince Will Come", depending on which princess she is at the moment, and we waltz and twirl and swish and dip. Really, it is very adorable!

VICTORIES

My bigger princess, who at this point in her life would rather stay home and scrub the floors than go to any ball that included dancing, jumped into the new soccer season with both feet. She was invited to play in a 3 v 3 soccer tournament this last Saturday with friends. They played five 30 minute games and ended up winning the tournament! Way to go Aleah!

Such fun updates and such great kiddoes! They all make me smile -- I think it was Josh ripping out his tooth this time that got the laugh from me.

My kids are fascinated by these cousins they've never seen before. Benjamin thinks Aleah looks like Natalie, and that Dalen looks a lot like his grandpa.

Aleah and Anna couldn't be more different! One is doing princesses and the other is winning soccer tournaments. :)

Blue is definitely a good color for Anna...that girl is hilarious!
