Like Sands through the Hourglass, So are the ....

I have a confession to make. When I was in college I was VERY addicted to "Days of Our Lives". It was bad. I remember coming home to my apartment EVERY day and plopping myself down on the sofa to get my fix. A bag of microwave popcorn or bowl of ice cream was not unheard of either. My freshman year, when I was in the dorms, I remember going down to the common area and watching it with a dozen or so other addicts. But later when I moved to an apartment, I would sometimes watch (gasp) all by myself. It has now been a few years since I was in college. And you will be happy to know that I have kicked the "Days" habit. I am now completely sober and have been for nearly ten years. Whew! I'm glad I was able to get that off my chest! What does this have to do with this post? Well, nothing really. I was just thinking that this post is about the normal days of our lives, and then the "Days" opening theme music popped into my head, and I could almost hear that ever wise voice saying "Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives".

ANYWAY! We have been super busy, which isn't unusual, but it has meant that I am behind on blogging. So here is the condensed version of the latest days of our lives.

Aleah and Seth played basketball again this year. Their season has been over for a few months, but I never got around to posting any pictures.

Aleah played soccer again this season. As her coach would say, she was "fast and powerful"!

Josh played soccer too.

Josh's coach said that his favorite thing about Josh was that he always made karate chop sounds when he kicked the ball --- "aye yah"!

Seth decided to skip soccer this season and try out flag football instead. He really enjoyed it a lot.

Seth has also decided to take up running. He ran his first 10K in April as part of the Texas Round-Up. Yee Haw! He was awesome.

Not to be out done in the round-up category, Josh recently had his "rodeo days" at preschool. They made stick horses and wore cowboy garb and had races of various kinds. Here he is racing one of his teachers, Mrs. Lori. Josh thought it was pretty darn fun. He loved it so much that he gave up his Jedi attire and wore only blue jeans and cowboy hats for a good week afterwards.

I ran my second half marathon back in April. It was fun - mostly. The course was VERY hilly and I had the blisters to prove it. But I've recovered and plan to do another one sometime in the fall.

Seth and Aleah have also recently run in 5K's, and I think they really had a great time doing it. Just so you know, I can still kick their little heinies and beat them (in a distance race anyway). But since I think my bragging rights are going to be short lived, I'm going to milk it for all I can. These kids are definitely getting faster and I'm sure it won't be long before they are leaving me in the dust.

Aleah continues to take piano lessons. She loves it and she is very good at it. Aleah and I played a duet in sacrament meeting today for Mother's Day. She was cool as a cucumber and did a great job! I was really proud of her. I, on the other hand, was terrified. Shesh! This picture is of Aleah playing at the primary talent show.

Anna is not yet involved in sports or music lessons or anything else, thanks heavens! But I'm sure her time is coming. I finally got around to taking her picture in the bluebonnets, since it is an unwritten law that all Texas children must have their picture taken with the state flower.

I think that pretty much wraps it up. Tune in next time for another exciting (or less than exciting) episode!

OK, that picture with you and Seth at the 10K? PRICELESS! And you and Aleah did a beautiful job yesterday. Such talented, wonderful kids!

And I have a confession, too. It wasn't Days of our Lives for me, it was General Hospital...all the way till Brin was born, after which I just didn't have time for it anymore.:) Yay for the recovering addicts!
