The month of February is one of our busiest of the year, and we will be spending a lot of time in the car. We have basketball practices and games, soccer practices and games, piano lessons, cub scouts, activity days and other miscellaneous activities. Thankfully, basketball will be over by the end of February.
I know we aren't much different than everyone else. I just find myself wondering how everyone else does it - especially those families with lots of kids? What are we going to do when Josh and Anna start having their own activities?
I suppose we should consider the big ol' car our home away from home. It is where we eat and sometimes sleep (except for the driver, of course), laugh, sing (sometimes really badly - much to Aleah's chagrin), read, and talk. Now if I could just figure out a way to hook up a microwave, we would have it made.
I guess I should look at the bright side ... at least while I am employed as the resident taxi driver, I get to spend the driving time with my kids. And since I have them strapped in and they can't escape, I have a better chance of claiming their undivided attention - right? So I really need to take full advantage of this time and enjoy it while I can.
However, Seth and Aleah be warned! Chances are good that on your 16th birthday, I'll be waking you up at the crack of dawn to run you down to the DMV too!

That is funny. I totally relate. Sometimes I just have to get in the car and go for a drive and let my all kids take a number so that I can get in all their talking in without distractions. BTW, clearly you are doing an amazing job, you have wonderful kids and just an adorable family.

Oh, yeah!! That driver's license thing was my favorite, both as a 16 year old and as a Mom of 16 year olds.
And how cute is your family? (I'll answer that for you -- they are fabulous!)
The problem you're going to have is Seth and Aleah fighting over WHO gets to drive! I have a feeling Aleah will win out most of the time ;)
A microwave in the car? Excellent idea! Someone needs to get on that right away.
My mom (8 kids) says she was in the car all the time but it was great because of the reasons you just stated. Strapped in and undivided attention. That's when the real talking gets done. You're a great mom to those great kiddos!
I've only got 1 involved in afterschool activities and I already feel overwhelmed at times~ I am impressed with your wonderful attitude about it!
